  • How/when did Edward and Bella meet?
Edward and Bella met when Bella was in high school. He is six years older than her, which means they never went to school together. They simply knew eachother as Rose's older brother and Rose's friend. He gave her a ride home from work one night and he says that he fell in love with her that night. He gave her his number with the pretense of her needing a ride, and soon she took him up on his offer. They obviously became more than friends.
  • How old are they? What is the story timeline?
When their affair started Edward was 24 and Bella was 18. They were together for six years, which put them at 31 and 24 when they broke up. Bella returns for Emmett's wedding five years later, which means when they see eachother again they are 35 and 29.
  • If Edward loved Bella so much, why did he marry Tanya?
Edward was already married when he pursued Bella. Yes, she knew he was married.
  • When Bella left Forks after the break up, why did she stay away for so long?
Bella made the decision to stay away beacuse Rose and Emmett were already together, and she didn't want to run the risk of having to be around Edward. Her heart was broken and she made the decision for herself. No one in her life really understood at the time, but they supported her going out and making a life for herself. Forks isn't exactly ideal for breaking into the "magazine" business.
  • Why would Alice, Tanya's sister, keep Bella's secret?
Alice saw a text message from Edward to Bella. It was obviously not rated PG. She was confused and in the end she didn't want to hurt her sister. She stopped talking to Bella. (This is a story people. Alice acted that way because I said so.)

Affairs happen all the time. Do I condone them? No, of course not.  I have been both the victim of an extramarital affair, and a willing participant in an extramarial affair. Second Chances has more of me in it than anything else I've written, and though I've taken pieces of this story from my own life, it is ultimately a work of fiction. I do not mean for this to offend.
